5th and 6th December 2020: Gift Weekend at St. Nicholas

St. Nicholas Gift Weekend: 5th and 6th December 2020

Gift Weekend and giving out of Messy Church Activity bags.

With St. Nicholas Day being on 6th December, this was a very appropriate weekend to hold our Gift weekend. It was heart-warming to see people's generosity in their giving of gifts for both St. Nicholas Church Funds, and for Dereham Foodbank. The gifts were placed in a canoe......why? Because St. Nicholas is Patron Saint of, not only children and pawn brokers, but also sailors!

Paul Edwards' grandchildren were in attendance to collect  their Messy Church Activity Bags and put their gifts in the canoe for the Foodbank.

The children took their Christmas Activity Bags home to make the crafts, and have fun with the colouring and puzzle sheets. The bags also contained 2 sheets of newspaper, so the children could protect furniture whilst making the crafts. As you can see, the older girls decided to spend time reading their newspaper sheets! The crafts included the nativity scene and angel as shown below.

The Christmas Tree is looking beautiful, bringing a bit of cheer into what has been a generally gloomy year.

Wishing you a very Happy Christmas, and praying for a Blessed and Healthy 2021
