27th October Messy Church Takeaway

Tuesday 27th October: St. Nicholas Church - 'Messy Church at Home'

We would usually have a session of Messy Church during the half-term holiday, but once more, Covid 19 prevented normal activities, so Messy Church could not happen.........but it did!  How? We constructed 'Messy Church in a Bag' activity packs, with the theme of 'The Farmer who went to sow' for the children to have fun with at home.

Evelyn Speed, Clare Cubitt and Digger Rabbit were waiting to greet the children and ensure the safe distribution of the 'Messy Church in a Bag' Activity packs

H.H. Aldiss Funeral Directors, East of England Co-op,  provided the environmentally friendly carrier bags, colouring books, crayons and yummy treats, whilst we added 2 pre-prepared craft activities to make, including the blackbird head band.

There were also colouring and puzzle sheets and a story sheet of the parable of 'The Farmer....'

Several children came to claim their fun bag, and were excited to see what their bag contained. They were also deliighted to receive a greeting from Digger Rabbit, who was wearing his face mask and maintained his social distance.

The activity bags which were left were made  available for children to collect during the rest of the week, during church opening hours, in case there were any who could not make it on the day, due to the poor weather or other committments.
