21st July 2019 Revd. Canon Sally Theakston's last Baptism service at Dereham

21st July 2019: Revd. Canon Sally Theakston's last Baptism at Dereham

This was a special day for many reasons. Skylar Winnie Muir is the last person to have been Baptised at Dereham by Sally, before she goes on to pastures new.

Godparents and parents, with Skylar, were introduced to the congregation, Skylar was annointed with the sign of the cross, with oil, before being Baptised with blessed water from the font.

Skylar was not the most co-operative of candidates, but with Sally's skill and her dad's help, the deed was done!

Skylar much preferred the candle and presentation of a Bible story book from Mothers Union!

Joseph John Robert Keeler was at the service to receive his Baptism certificate and be introduced to St. Nicholas congregation. He had been Baptised by Sally at the beginning of July.

There was also the presentation of the new Paschal Candle Holder, made by Fred Becket.

Sally blessed the holder, and dedicated it to David Webster decd., a much loved Verger and dear friend of St. Nicholas Congregation, who died earlier this year. Caludette, David's widow, was invited to be present for this moving ceremony.

The candle holder was skilfully made by Fred  to match the wood and chrome font
