3rd October 2018 Mothers Union Festivsl Service. at Norwich Cathedral

'In Mary Sumner's Footsteps'

Before the service began, Diocesan President, Marguerite Phillips, spoke to the large congregation in the Cathedral and welcomed Worldwide President, Lynne Tembey, Civic Dignitaries and other invited guests.

The Banners from around the Diocese were paraded followed by a procession of Clergy and a Mothers Union Reader, Mothers Union Officers, including Lynne \tembey, Worldwide President, and Civic Dignitaries.

     

The Revd. Canon Simon Lawrence, Diocesan Chaplain welcomed all to the Cathedral.

During the service, the bible passages were read by MU members. New members were admitted and there was the Affirmation and Reaffirmation of the Mission, Aims and Objects of the Mothers Umion.

The Worldwide President, Lynne Tembey gave a moving sermon, telling of the  anecdotal evidence of the work of Mothers Union members which she has experienced on her travels around the world. Footprints, denoting the work of the work done by MU Branches throughout the Diocese, were laid at the foot of the altar.   

The Very Revd., Jan Hedges, called the Congregation to worship at the beginning of the service, and gave the blessing at the end, before the banners were processed through the cathedral and out of the great west doors, where Lynne Tembey was able to speak to the standard bearers.

      

After the service, there was oppportunity for members to speak with our Worldwide President, Lynne Tembey, whilst enjoying a cup of coffee.
