Good Friday Messy Church 2019

Good Friday Messy Church 2019

The theme was Easter, with craft activities to illustrate the Easter Story. The children made 'Digger Rabbit' Easter story pictures, Concertina Easter eggs, which tell the Easter story, A 'Good News' board game, and a 'Digger Rabbit sweet container, complete with mini eggs.  Canon Sally Theakston led a game of 'Eggs', during which the children followed Sally's lead to become 'scrambled eggs', 'devilled eggs', hard boiled eggs and runny eggs.

Worship time was made special, when Sally blessed a cross, dedicated to the late David Webster, who had helped with Messy Church in the past. The cross will be central to all future Messy Church worship time. Evelyn read the story of 'Digger Rabbit and the First Easter'. Singing time included 'There is a Green Hill Far Away' and because the children wouldn't be in church for Easter Day, we celebrated Easter early by singing 'Alleluia', with all the actions. The children are well used to this now and it's a joy to see so many happy faces.

The morning finished with hot-crass buns, donated by East of England Co-op, Cadbury Creme Eggs donated by Morrisons, and biscuits and cakes, made by our Messy Church Volunteers.
