3rd August 2019 MU Strawberry Tea at Swanton Morley

3rd August 2019 Mothers Union Annual Strawberry Tea.

Dereham and District Mothers Union gathered at Swanton Morley Vicarage with members and friends over-filling the large lounge to hear  Marguerite Phillips ,the past Norwich Diocesan President of Mothers Union of 6 years, speak of her time  in the post. It was obviously a very busy but interesting time for her, and she enthused about the work of the worldwide presence and work of the Mothers Union.

Marguerite Phillips, past Norwich Diocesan President of Mothers Union, can be seen far right in the central photograph above.

On behalf of Dereham and Distract Branch of Mothers Union, Sue Smith presented Marguerite with a bouquet of flowers. Sheila Hanmer gave a vote of thanks after which members showed their appreciation by applauding Marguerite.

It was then time to go and sit in brilliant sunshine to enjoy a delicious strawberry tea.

There was an abundance of scones, topped with strawberry jam, cream and fresh strawberries, plus bowls of the succulent, sweet strawberries and cream. Plenty of tea flowed into our cups to refresh our palates, before tucking into round 2 of more of the same! An ideal, pleasant, sunny afternoon, in good company.........It's good to be in England in the summer time!.

Sheila Hanmer and Marguerite Otty watch the delights of a traditional strawberry tea.
