25th October 2018 Dereham Mayor at St. Nicholas Messy Church

25th October 2018 Dereham Mayor, Hilary Bushell, vistited St. Nicholas Messy Church to join in the latest Family Fun Morning. She helped children with craft activities, joined in the games,  including Canon Sally's game of 'Beans', which is not easy when wearing her heavy 'chain of office'. She spoke to the children, during worship time, about her role as Mayor of Dereham and joined in the action songs.

There were several crafts depicting harvest of land and sea, including a 'Feeding the 5,000' story card, a picnic place mat, stenciling pictures and a 'catch-a-ball' fish. It was the first outing for our beautiful Noah's Ark, bought with funds from the Barnham Broom Gospel Hall Trust .

It's always good to see families making crafts together, and our lego is popular with the older boys, who make some fantastic models. The air hockey game continues to be popular, even for those who can barely see over the pitch!

The children were very attentive to what Mayor, Hilary Bushell had to say during worship time.

Listening to the story of 'The Big Picnic' and then joining in the singing of 'He's got the whole world in His hands', the children learned the importance of sharing plentious harvests with those of the world not so fortunate.

35 children and 61 adults attended this busy sessionsession

Maisie Speed read the prayers of thanksgiving, before the  Messy Grace was said. It was then time to have a picnic lunch of fish finger rolls, (provided by 'Iceland'), and mini fruit baskets and cake.

The next session of Messy Church will be in early 2019.
