24th December 2018. Christmas Eve Services at St. Nicholas

Christmas Eve Services at St. Nicholas Church Dereham

Three Christingle Services and the Midnight Communion Service saw over 1,200 adults and children attend St. Nicholas Church.

The peaceful, empty church soon filled to capacity for each of the Christingle services. Children helped Canon Sally Theakston light the candles on the Advent wreath. Sally then explained the meaning of the Christingles.

Lay Minister, Evelyn Speed read the Christmas story and then gave a talk about Christmas and God's great gift of Jesus.

Children lined up to receive their Christingles, forming 2 rings around the church, before their precious Christingles were lit. The lights were dimmed, creating a special atmosphere for the singing of 'Away in a Manger'.

Carols and music were accompanied by the Church Music Group.

The Midnight service was led by Canon Sally Theakston, who gave the Christmas Address.
