22nd March 2019: St Nicholas Farewell to David Webster

22nd March 2019. A special Final Farewell to David Webster.

Nearly 400 people attended the funeral of our belated Verger, David Webster. The Congregation included representatives from all areas of his comitted life, from the Scouting Association, work colleagues from Crane Freuhauff, and his friends and colleagues from his Church Family at St. Nicholas, where he had been Verger for the past 8 years.

His family played a major part of this 'Celebration' of David's life', with his grandson, Aiden, reading a passage from the Bible, and his sons, Mark and Paul, giving a fantastic tribute to their dad..

Canon Sally Theakston led the service and paid tribute to David's commitment to his Church life, and Reader/Lay Minister, Lydia Crick, led the prayers.

David will be greatly missed by ALL of those who had the privilege of knowing him.

A large congregation of nearly 400 people filled St. Nicholas Church, Dereham, having come to say 'goodbye' and pay tribute to such a wonderful man, who was loved and admired by so many over many years.

David's talented artwork was on display aroun the church, in the form of the 8 ft high 'hangings', which he had painted as back-drops for Messy Church.

This was a poignant moment, as David left his church for the final journey.

R.I.P. David Webster, after a busy life, so well lived.
