19th October: Scarning Church's Concert of 'Ship Ahoy' and Fish and Chip Supper

85 people attended Scarning Church for a fantastic evening of entertainment with the Masquerade Singers and others.

Sian Astley was MC for the evening, making good informative comments on the performed pieces.

David Ovenden was accompanist on the keyboards.



1) Masquerade made light work of the nautical songs of the evening. 2) Anne, Ken and Sue sang the Skye Boat Song



3)Corinne read 'Sea Fever', including one verse by Spike Milligan! 4) 'The Ladies sang, 'You can't keep a horse in a lighthouse!

5) Ken and Michael gave a different account of the 'Battle of Trafalgar', which took into account a more politically correct version!!!


6)Our Molly selling her 'Cockles and Mussels' 7) Is this the Captain's daughter slept with the drunken sailor?! 8) All great performances should end with a rousing rendition of 'Rule Britannia' Well done Sue, finishing with a flourish!

There was excellent participation by the audience throughout the evening.

This evening raised £470, which was split between the RNLI and church funds.

At the end of the evening, there was a special presentation and grateful thanks to Patricia and Frank Foreman for their spectacular fundraising efforts. Frank has sold many copies of his 6 poetry books which he has written, and Trish has led a dedictaed, hard-working team, prepapring and running the monthly coffee mornings. The total raised for the church is now in excess of £30,000!.
